Debi Does Vintage

Today, I’m crushing on the amazing vintage style of actress and cooking show host Debi Mazar.

Debi talks about the origins of her personal style in this piece on the website Into The Gloss

I wanted to be like my grandmother, in my little Mary Janes and my Easter dress and celebrate my birthday party with the milk glass plates, which I still have. My grandmother wore sleeping jackets that were quilted satin with a little tie at the neck and she would sit in bed with her tea and her Beretta—her silver filigree gun—that sat in the drawer.

“Glamour is a state of mind”

In a recent New York Times article, she says of her style, “I prefer to dress like my version of Anna Magnanni as a Sicilian widow or Monica Vitti or Gina Lollobrigida.

“I used to be a street kid, shopping in thrift stores, and I still love to wear vintage “

Debi sometimes shops at a vintage store in LA called  The Way They Wore. Here, they talk about helping her find some frocks to wear on her cooking show:

Debi called us needing some fabulous dresses to wear filming Extra Virgin in Tuscany. The fit-and-flare silhouettes are perfect for her bombshell body, so we sent her a box of dresses to fit the bill. The art of vintage clothing is all about finding what works for you; Debi knows what she wants, but is always open to experimentation and fun!

“I have this fear of coming across as a Barbie doll who got lucky. Style is a big part of who I am but it’s not who I am. Ya know?

“I don’t mind being uncomfortable if it looks good”

I am a vintage clothing shop owner living and working in rural north Florida. I believe in adding a little vinegar and molasses to my greens, having my coffee outside whenever possible, and mixing something vintage into every room and every outfit.
