You know that phenomenon that happens when you write a word over and over, and after a while, it starts to look really weird? First, you wonder if you’re spelling it right. Then you start thinking, Is this even a word? That’s happening to me right now and the word is “jumpsuit.”
Let me assure you that fabulous vintage jumpsuits do exist. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no jumpsuits! There would be no poetry, no romance, no one piece outfits to make tolerable this existence.
Whoa, wait, I’ve gone down a rabbit hole. Back to vintage jumpsuits and why you need one. Now.
You need one because jumpsuits are the best item of clothing in the world.
You need one because it is a single piece of clothing that you just put on and it looks fantastic-no matching or coordinating required.
You need one because jumpsuits just make you stand out in a way that is entirely effortless.
Granted, finding a jumpsuit that flatters you and works with your body type will take a bit of trying on, but the results are FIRE so I highly suggest putting in the effort. If you’re worried about the torso-to-leg ratio issue, look for one with a bit of blousiness at the waist, maybe a drawstring or some elastic.
Like with most clothing, there are going to be things that look great on someone else and not great on you, or not so good on someone else and fabulous on you, and you’ll never really know until you try it on.
So, try some on!
What do you wear with it? Remember, the point here is you don’t have to worry about what else to wear with it! It is the thing! Just wear whatever shoes look and feel right , and you’re good to go. OK, maybe one more thing: a necklace, or a belt, or some earrings. One thing-that’s all.
Where do you wear a jumpsuit?
Anywhere! Like Solange Knowles did at her wedding:
Wear a silky or jersey one to a party or out to dinner, a denim one to a cookout, a short romper-style to the beach, or even a tailored one to work.
Though, I will warn you, you will be the talk of the room because of how fabulous you look.
How can I impress on you further that you need to buy a jumpsuit? Just get one. You’ll look great.
